Descendants' Awards​

The Dr John Roberts QC CBE Annual Achievement Awards is run by the Descendants organisation. It is a charitable organisation that aims to encourage young people of Black heritage to develop a sense of pride in their abilities through increasing their self-confidence and knowledge of their history and ancestry. 

Every year the Descendants organisation invites a group of Black heritage students to attend their awards evening to be publicly recognised and celebrated for their outstanding achievements.

2024: Well done Shimani, who won “Students who work hard and achieve against all the odds.” He is testament to our values: Believe, Aspire, Flourish!

2022: Congratulations to Antoine Whittaker. We are extremely proud to announce that he WON the STEM category.

Black history month

Every year our pupils engage in a range of BHM activities including
assemblies, celebrating black history and culture, culminating in Dress up day,  recognising our cultural backgrounds. Students work collaboratively to produce an excellent models and presentations on various countries and cities. Ms George has alos been lucky enough to meet her sporting hero, Ian Wright OBE.

No learner left behind

Ealing No Learner Left Behind (Black Caribbean Achievement) Programme

Dormers Wells Primary School, as well as Dormers Wells High School and many other schools in Ealing, have joined the programme.  The purpose of this programme is to work with students, parents, staff and the wider community to develop a shared understanding of the issues and key concepts affecting Black Caribbean students and develop a framework for action to ensure our Black Caribbean students are able to reach their full potential.

At Dormers Wells Learning Trust our staff and students have undergone training on topics such as: unconscious bias and black contributions throughout history to help develop our cultural competence and be able to move from being a non-racist school to an anti-racist school.

Windrush ​

Windrush Award

The Sam King Windrush Awards is a prestigious award given to two girls and two boys up to the age of 14 who produce an outstanding fictional narrative about the West Indians who traveled on the MV Empire Windrush and arrived at Tilbury Docks on 22 June.

March 2023: A very big congratulations to Tisha for winning the Windrush award in memory of Sam King. Tisha produced an insightful essay about the generation that travelled on the MV Empire Windrush and arrived at Tilbury Docks on 22 June 1948.

Windrush Day

June 2023: For Windrush Day we celebrated the passengers on Empire Windrush who docked in Britain 75 years ago. We spent the day making masks, travel brochures, hosting chat shows and having Merwyn Weir, author of ‘I cant breathe’ in to speak about Windrush.

Lyons club

2022: Well done to Riyansh and Zaim from Blackman class for winning the reward from the Lyon’s Club for their fantastic posters about peace to stop racism.
