Displays around our school

Diversity in History and Science

Pupils enjoy learning about history and culture in a diverse curriculum where they see themselves and their families represented through history. Pupils have studied topics such as The Southall Uprising and how the effects have shaped the community, Black History Month, Mansa Musa and so much more. Year 5 Science work also shows Black Women’s contributions which proved essential to NASA’s success in space exploration.

Diversity in Maths, RE, Geography and Music

In maths children learnt the story of Rama and Sita which has a character called Ravana in it who has 10 heads. The maths activity for the children was to count different amounts of Ravana’s heads.

In Religious Education (RE) and Music is an integral part of our curriculum, which reflects the rich diversity in beliefs and cultures within our community.

In Geography, fieldwork is planned and children get to see signs, symbols, buildings, etc. that reflect their cultures. When looking at places, we look for ways that life is similar as well as different by using images of all aspects of everyday life, e.g. showing people in professional dress as opposed to only traditional dress.

Race and diversity continue to be embedded in all of our Geography units, to ensure that children see themselves and the community they live in reflected in the people they learn about and the images they see.
